John Fillmore Clayton    

John was born May 31, 1958 The son of a Baptist Minster. In 1967 at the age of nine John believed his calling was to also preach. John began his quest, and was a natural. After two years in the pulpit, and days before he was to be ordained John had another epiphany. John noticed that people thirty and forty years his senior were looking at him as if he was the answer. This bothered him because he didn’t quite trust and understand the advise he was led to give. Although John knew counseling was his calling, he believed he needed to live and acquire knowledge, experience, and understanding before he could possibly help others with confidence.

In 1969 at age eleven John began to sneak out late at night to hopefully set in on keyboards, at a R & B juke joint called the Demonstrators Lounge. By age Twelve John progressed and began to play with local acts.

At age fourteen John lost his father to cancer which forced him to look at music as a money making endeavor, he began to tour on weekends. After graduation  from Arsenal Tech at the dismay of his mother John chose military service instead of college.

In 1976 John enlisted in the U.S.M.C. where he toured half way around the world and over three quarters of the United States. 

In 1978 while enrolled at college John picked up where he left off playing engagements with Betty Wright, Millie Jackson, and Big Daddy J, Vincent.

In 1980 John toured the chetling circuit with Z. Z. Hill  in cities like Ashburn, Cordell, Albany, Ga. To  Columbus, Montgomery, and Selma, Al. down Natchez Trace to Yazoo, Laurel, and Rolling Fork Mississippi.

In an attempt to live a normal life John returned home to Indianapolis, and begin to edit commercials for local radio stations, as well as voice over’s.

In 1981 John begin to Manage One of the largest, swankest Clubs in the country “The Excalibur” in Indianapolis Ind.

In 1991 John opened his first Upscale Styling Salon where he landed a Paramount studio contract shadowing Loretta De’vine, Lela Rechon from the movie “Waiting to Exhale”  and also worked with national celebrities like Guy Black, Traci Hale, and Sinbad.

In 1994 John was nominated and confirmed into the Who’s Who Business, in Washington D. C. at The Library of Congress.

In 2005 John was inducted as a Distinguished  Alumni of Arsenal Tech.

Which leads us to the present, Now in 2011 John is counseling thru radio using conventional wisdom, mother wit, and a down home perspective.

Experience has proven to be the best teacher and John has been blessed to have experienced the joy and pain of life. These revelations has manifested in his new book “This Damn Love Thing” the handbook for lovers, with true love chronicles.
